first world warWorld War I was initiated in August 1914 when Ferdinand of Austria was murdered by a Serbian nationalist from Bosnia. The central powers of the war were Germany, the Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungary, while the allied powers were France, England, Russia, Italy, United States and Japan.
Despite the war being world-wide, there were certain locations where it was focused on:
A trench was a long narrow ditch were soldiers hid for protection. Trench Warfare involved machine guns, tanks and chemical weapons. Over nine million soldiers were killed during this battle, and twenty one million injured. The fight came to an end in 1918 and Russia, Turkey, Germany and Austria-Hungary (the four imperial dynasties) suffered great collapse.
